Searching the net for information can be a frustrating exercise however for irrigation related information a good place to start is the WWW Virtual Library of Irrigation. This site provides links and information on irrigation and hydrology held on other websites. The information is indexed under a range of useful headings. The site also contains information on conferences, on-line journals, independent articles and irrigation standards and statistics.

Another excellent site is Connected Water an Australian Government site which contains Australian and International links for surface water and ground water.

Irrigation Information Portal

This new portal developed by ANCID makes it easier to find basic and detailed information about a wide array of topics that impact on irrigation. There are links to facts and figures about irrigation in Australia, irrigation best practice, innovation and technology, case studies, resources, availability, water trading, water policy, standards, regulations, research, education, training, publications, events, and even weather forecasts.

Smart Approved WaterMark Scheme - IAL in conjunction with the Water Services Association of Australia (WSSA), the Nursery and Garden Industry of Australia (NGIA) and the Australian Water Association (AWA) have developed the Smart WaterMark scheme. The key objectives of the Smart WaterMark Scheme are to assist in the reduction of per capita water consumption – especially in the areas of outdoor water-use via the labelling of appropriate water using/saving products and water related services and organisations.The Smart WaterMark scheme is not-for-profit, voluntary and applications are assessed by an independent expert panel.
 
National Program for Sustainable Irrigation
The National Program for Sustainable Irrigation Knowledge Base contains over 1000 references to contemporary irrigation research that is of relevance to the Australian Irrigation Industry. Summarised reports and, where possible, links to each of them have been supplied. Each report is discussed under one or more of the following headings:
  • Relevance to Irrigation;
  • Guidelines & Toolkits – computer models, tools and any explicit guidelines;
  • Efficiency and profit – on–farm practice;
  • Environment – off-farm research and practices; and

IRRIGATION-L - IRRIGATION-L is an email discussion list in the field of irrigation theory and practice. IRRIGATION-L was already established in 1994 and has been active ever since. While it is an email based discussion list it also has its own website with threaded online archives of all postings since the establishment of the list in 1994 (more than 5,500). All the information and the content of all postings is fully searchable and freely accessible on-line. New postings are automatically added to the site. All the information needed to subscribe (free) etc is also found on that site.
